It's just a window with a standard Windows title bar, a single-row tool bar, and a blank area to type text in. Line Number (and other stuff like bookmark and fold margin) (Personally, even zoom could probably be left out, but grandma might appreciate the ability to make the text larger). Just as an experiment, I tried hiding just about everything in Notepad++ to get a regular Notepad type simplified interface, and about the only thing I think it would really need to be "grandma-friendly" is a separate "Basic" toolbar that omits basically everything after the Zoom buttons, and maybe add a "Settings" gear icon to the toolbar to make a quick, discoverable way to get into the "Preferences" window with menus turned off by default. Click to expand.To be fair, Notepad++ has a very configurable interface, so they could change the default settings to be a pretty minimalist configuration that hides away all that stuff.
